Milan has always been the epicentre for trade, arts and culture, with a very interesting history spanning from the times of Plato to present times. It was founded by a group of Celts around 400 BC and was taken over by the Romans 200 years later. The Romans, were certainly not the only influence of this great city, the Spaniards, Austrians, Goths and the Lombards have all at various juncture ruled Milan, with all leaving their imprint in the forms of monuments, buildings and the overall culture of Milan. This is one main reason, why Milan appears unique among other Italian cities, with its mix of culture and lifestyle.

When they visit Milan for the first time, most people are immediately confronted by this stylish built up metropolis, some worth akin to what you would see in the city of London or Manhattan of New York. However, Milan is not completely devoid of beautiful sceneries as those of Venice or Florence. It is known to keep its secrets a little close to the heart, and some exploration of the city beyond the popular locations, is required to tease out some of its interesting tourist spots. Some of this interesting spots are places like the Brera which is a university quarter district, the Navigli canals, and some smaller ancient churches with all the picturesque we have come to expect of such buildings.

Milan also has its own fair share of museums like the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, a historical library that showcases the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana art gallery. The Pinacoteca Di Brera, reputed as housing important Italian paintings. The Storzesco Castle, home to ancient arts and the Museo del Duomo houses the wooden model of the seven hundred year old construction of the cathedral.
One of the many beauties of Milan is the fact that it has something for everyone. If you are one that appreciates the finer things of life, then the cuisines on offer would be right up your streak. Among other things available in this wonderful city, is the ambiance you get from the smell of coffee during a nice walk through the city, not to mention the array of boutique shops available for those interested in picking up top quality fashion accessories.
